Welcome to the MET Gala, where one woman’s dreams are about to be flushed faster than you can say nepotism. In struts erratic debutante, Hot Mess: delusional socialite, wannabe fashion icon, and full-time liability. Part absurd clown, part catwalk diva: this remarkably eccentric character celebrates the disastrous reality of being human.

Georgia Polly-Taylor first created this one-woman spectacle as an eight minute cabaret act inspired by her own experiences of chronic illness, and navigating life as a performer in an age of curated authenticity. The show gained attention from programmers and was developed into a full hour of comedic carnage through collaboration with Director/ Producer, Nancy Hannigan.

About the process of preparing for the Fringe Georgia Polly-Taylor says,

‘The toilet used in our set was rescued by my dad from a building site – Thanks to his willingness to deep clean said toilet…here we are!’

Director Nancy Hannigan said,

‘Georgia is a formidable clown and this character is magnetic. The show satirises our collective addiction to building women up just so we can slag them off later, while exploring the strange pressure to turn vulnerability into content in the influencer age.’ This grotesque-burlesque provides a glittery punch to the gonads, and is not to be missed.
