Dreamt up in Paris and developed in New York, Adrienne: An American in Paris is now making its debut at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Among the glittering company of Hemingway, Stein, and Fitzgerald, Adrienne finds herself immersed in the stories she’s always longed for—but with each passing page, she wonders: Can we ever escape who we really are?
Paris, 1925. The cafés hum with poetry, the air buzzes with the dreams of expatriates, and Adrienne – a wide- eyed bibliophile from New Jersey – has finally arrived. In the vibrant premiere of Adrienne, an American in Paris, the decadence and desire of the Roaring Twenties come alive in a romantic, one-woman reverie at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Written by Josh King, directed by Lil Malinich, and produced & performed by Kirsten Lewis, this original work pays homage to the soul of literary Paris. Inspired by the memories of Sylvia Beach and her bookshop, Shakespeare & Company, Adrienne is a dreamy, humorous, and tender exploration of what it means to find your own personal truth.
Kirsten Lewis is a New York–based producer & actress. Now returning to the Fringe for a 2nd time, Kirsten stars as Adrienne, capturing the character’s longing and lyricism with magnetic charm.
Josh King is the writer of touring comedy sensation …Earnest?, performing at the Underbelly, and 3 critically acclaimed one-woman shows from Moon Rabbit Theatre.
Director Lil Malinich brings her years of experience from Broadway-affiliated Working Artists Theatre Project and Canada’s award-winning Theatre Soup.
