Between is a single act play about regret, and waiting. Two people find they are stuck in limbo, and with nothing else to do they are forced to come to terms with their situation, one another, and ultimately themselves. An immediate clash of personalities strains the fragile peace, and the natural inquisitiveness of one character clashes against the stoic introversion of the other. As patience wears thin and tempers flare, the pair are forced to come to terms with their own regrets in the hope they can find what it takes to move on. Between is funny, moving, and slightly surreal, with a Beckett-esque influence clearly present, and the everyday conversation and bickering at odds with the strangeness of the situation.  

Between was written by Sam Smernicki during his HND in Acting & Performance at Dundee & Angus College, and has since been expanded to this work in progress sharing. The play is directed by Calum Lynn Dwyer, a director, theatre maker, and lecturer who trained at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, and has a particular interest in autobiographical and verbatim work. Between is performed by Sam Smernicki and Liam Phin, who is also a recent graduate from the HND course at Dundee & Angus College.
