Back in the heady 1980’s, Joan Collins held TV audiences enthralled with her portrayal of the wicked and wonderful Alexis Carrington in the blockbuster Dynasty. Now, thanks to a chance meeting with a Cumbrian-born entertainer, the iconic actress is to star in the Edinburgh Fringe – without ever setting foot in Scotland’s capital city.
Billy Walker is the creator and star of JCBMOT, A Fleabag-inspired one-man spectacular which spotlights Thor Jones, who fondly considers himself to be one of England’s finest thespian exports.
Determined to land a starring role in the Dynasty reboot, he heads for Hollywood, armed with a Burberry steamer trunk filled with enough opinions to sink the Cutty Sark.
Far from Tinseltown, Billy was born and raised by a single mother on a council estate in the industrial town of Workington. During the Covid lockdown he recorded an album which raised over £20k for ‘Hospice at Home West Cumbria’.
At sixteen, Billy became a member of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. He earned his spurs as a singer on the northern club circuit before landing the role of the Butler in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. In 2013 he relocated to Los Angeles to study at Playhouse West, the Meisner Studio which produced some of L.A.’s finest talent including Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Goldblum
He has just won ‘Best Featured Performance’ at the Stage Raw Theatre Awards for his portrayal of ‘The Boss’ in the Playhouse West Production of Men in Suits.
