Award-winning writer and performer Florencia Iriondo returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with the world premiere of Song Society — a one-woman folk-pop musical about memory, myth, and the moments that won’t let us go.
Following a breakout 2024 Fringe debut and a sold-out Off-Broadway run at SoHo Playhouse, Iriondo brings her signature mix of humor, soul, and stripped-back original music to Underbelly.
Meet the Songkeeper, neurotic, tender, and armed with a memory machine built from analog junk. Her job? Archive the stories we try to forget by turning them into folk-pop songs. But when one memory keeps resurfacing — untagged, unsorted, and dangerously catchy — she’s forced to choose: forget for good, or remember with purpose.
The show features an iconic voiceover featured role by Emmy-nominated comedian Amy Sedaris (Strangers with Candy, BoJack Horseman), bringing her unmistakable brilliance to the world of the play.
Blending live acoustic music, absurdist humor, and a dose of magical realism, Song Society is equal parts Eternal Sunshine and MTV Unplugged — a poetic, playful call to reconnect with ourselves and each other.
For anyone who’s ever wanted to rewrite the past — or at least make it rhyme.
You can catch Song Society from July 30th to August 25th (not the 12th) at Dexter at Underbelly, Bristo Square from 13:15 (60mins). Tickets (£12/£11 conc./£8 preview) are available through the EdFringe Online Box Office.
