REVIEW: Jealousy Play, Lockdown Projections, EdFringe 2026 ★★★★

A young woman is sitting down wearing green shirt and green lighting.

Hell hath no fury than a woman who auditions more than once for drama school. Jealousy Play says the quiet part outloud!

Joanne has always had the theatrical funny bone, drawn to performance, similar to her peer, Neptune. A divergence in their route to the stage forces Joanne to examine her pit of jealousy and what feeds it.

Jealousy Play is an honest and relevant examination into the theatre industry.  The arts have always been subsidised by the bank of emotional intelligence, strong support systems & disposable income. Remember to thank your parents at the Olivier’s. Jealousy Play is intricate and moving: how does the fast-paced, paternlistic theatre industry burn through neurodivergent, working class women?

This show needs to be witnessed by all drama school directors. This was a refreshing look into how neglect can spiral into low self esteem. The industry can be savage and the bank of parents can’t always fufill emotional needs so how do you fill your cup enough to truly embody tenacity, perseverance & audacity?

Rachel Isobel Heritage is absolutely mesmerising on stage. Heritage expresses a breadth of emotion from hope to overwhelm with gripping pacing and movement directed by Saffron Woolven.  She holds the stage, building her relationships responding to the set and the audio woven in from the likes of her boyfriend and her dad.  Projection captures the interior of Joanne’s brain flow as we see her perspective, research, methodology to her obsession.

Jealousy Play is painfully sincere and holds space to mourn our naivety to the industry and to preserve our innocent passion for performance.

Recommended Drink: A few Jagerbombs.

Performances of Jealousy Play have now concluded at EdFringe 2026.
