What’s milk got to do with privilege? Come join Kevin Qian in his Fringe acting and writing debut as he takes you through growing up a privileged model minority in the deep south: being raised to get into Ivy Leagues, doing the sexy stretch to fit in, and tasting human flesh, all told through the perspective of him as a cow drinking a loooot of milk.
Inspired by the thought, “It’d be funny to strangle a carton of milk on stage with full emotional earnestness”, 2%: A Play About Privilege (And Also Milk) has instead evolved into a personal story that unearths Kevin’s relationship with assimilation, inheritance, and most importantly, his family’s obsession with milk. Audiences have come out of the show deeply impacted by how his specific story contains themes that resonate universally, no matter your immigrant experience. And if anything, you get to watch this guy drink a ton of milk.
