Do Not Attempt This Conversation is, in truth, a conversation that must be heard.
In a small administrative hospital room, Junior Doctor Nneka and loyal granddaughter Stephanie, contest over a Do Not Attempt Resuscitation (DNAR) decision.
Do Not Attempt This Conversation is absolutely hysterical yet sensitively reveals the vulnerability of the NHS’s youngest doctors and relatives of the sick in carrying out life or death decisions.
As the NHS buckles, where is the care when senior support is only a voice on a phone? And in an age where families arrive with a medical degree from ChatGPT, what does it mean to grieve without truly feeling informed?
The two performers under the direction of Eden Igwe shine on stage. Mo Maka embodies Nneka wholly. From pumping herself up; to her professional delivery of the medical reality; her comic timing keeping the dread breathable and the stakes palpable. Amaju Jade “AJ” Samuel’s Stephanie is relentless, balancing her sarkiness as she gets more vexed, melting into a sense of helplessness when she has no more fight left to give.
Do Not Attempt This Conversation is exposing, wry and deeply human.
Recommended Drink: A strong tea.
Performances of Do Not Attempt This Conversation have now concluded at EdFringe 2026.
