REVIEW: CVNT, Sophie Power, EdFringe 2026 ★★★★

A sentient CVNT encourages you to embrace your own power. In this sensual love letter to the body, Sophie Power delivers something part biology lesson, part therapy session, and completely bonkers.

Power is loud and vibrant, encouraging the audience to release their inhibitions and embrace the power of ‘cvnt’. Exploring the versatility of both Australia and Britain’s favourite word, this is a show that wants you to take part in it and get as loud as you can in the name of CVNT.

Power gives the middle finger to taboo, she is immediately glorious dressed as a CVNT herself. The show has a colour palette, cast in reds and pinks, deeply embracing this feminine, bodily joy. She asks the audience to stimulate her, hilariously coaxing members to stroke her into bliss. It’s wild, maybe a little uncomfortable, and quite a cathartic experience to see someone so candid about pleasure. This is a show that seeks to abolish shame from the female body, it’s visceral in a way that feels honest. Why shouldn’t we embrace the messiness of the body?

The show extends beyond sex to a sort of philosophical thesis of being completely unapologetic of who you are. It argues that nobody is perfect, and there is no need to cower away from our own power. The audience are encouraged to get hands on and participate in this catharsis. We are asked to think about the many meanings of the word ‘CVNT‘, and to think about everyone in our lives we would consider a ‘CVNT‘. Power directs her energies towards empowering the audience to using any anger we may have pent up and using it to fight back against anything that is getting us down. It’s a lot of fun to see the audience expel their own frustrations in this ridiculous, but also quite powerful, ritual. The proximity of silly and serious really makes this show shine, giving it quite a profound centre to an otherwise bizarre, and fun, experience.

With plenty of sing along moments, and performed with an dizzying energy, Power really ignites the room. She is a talented performer, with a particular talent for imitation. Her enigmatic charm makes it easy to get onboard with the programme. Even on a Sunday night, the whole room got involved in one way or another, a real testament to her enticing energy.

It was a gloriously good time, working itself into a frenzy and releasing the tension of a whole room. A feel-good show this Fringe that will get you in the mood to go out and embrace the ‘CVNT‘ in you. Power is dazzling, hilarious, and fiendishly femme.

Recommended Drink: Wet Pussy, keep ’em coming (for obvious reasons).

You can catch CVNT at The Box at Assembly George Square until 31st August from 20.20 (60mins). Tickets are available through the EdFringe Online Box Office.
