At the crossroads of disciplines, this genre-defying performance piece, created by Fouad Boussouf (Artistic Director and choreographer), brings together two exceptional performers who, at first glance, seem worlds apart — and yet.

On one side, Paul Molina, one of France’s top freestyle footballers, whose every touch of the ball becomes percussion, rhythm, pulse. On the other, Gabriel Majou, violinist and composer, whose bow paints evocative and powerful soundscapes. Together, they invent a shared language, a living score where athletic gesture meets musical precision.

With °Up: Violin vs Football, Fouad Boussouf continues to explore one of the defining themes of his work: building bridges between worlds and revealing the beauty of unexpected encounters. Here, the stage becomes a space of play and deep listening, where two solitudes brush against each other, challenge one another, and ultimately find harmony. The ball moves, the violin responds, and gradually, a connection unfolds before the audience’s eyes.

More than a performance, it is a sensory experience. The audience’s senses are heightened as they witness the emergence of a rare duo, where attentiveness to one another becomes the true driving force behind creation

Presented at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, °Up: Violin vs Football powerfully showcases the performing arts’ ability to push boundaries and bring people together. An invitation to see — and hear — differently.

Don’t miss °Up: Violin vs Football at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as part of “Vive Le Fringe”, presented by the Institut français d’Écosse, from August 18 to 27, 2026, at 6:00 PM (40 minutes) [Off on August 24]. Tickets are available through the EdFringe Online Box Office.
