BOOST: Watch ‘Sometimes Give Up’ at Adelaide Fringe 2026 – A stand-up comedy show about how losers never quit, and quitters never lose… (Promoted)

Sick of “sticking it out”? Had it with “hanging in there”? Nauseated by “never giving up”? Then do I have the show for you!

My name is Simon Bower. I’m a writer, comedian, and above all else, a quitter. In 2019, I gave up performing stand-up comedy for over five years, and in that time I learned something very important: that giving up is (sometimes) the answer to all of life’s problems.

That’s when I knew I had to bring my debut solo show Sometimes Give Up to the Adelaide Fringe Festival, in order to take down the propaganda of persistence and show the world how fun, healthy and even inspiring it can be to be a big ol’ quitter like me. You’ll hear about my time as an undercover millennial at uni, how my best friend coming out as trans drastically improved my wardrobe, and the hypocrisy behind men like Winston Churchill and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as I point out how, despite their words, they too knew that it can be best to Sometimes Give Up.

“Nailed the self-deprecation angle with aplomb”

“Has a great sense of what’s funny”

You can catch Sometimes Give Up as part of Adelaide Fringe 2026 from Friday 20th February to Sunday 22nd February at HYMN BAR at various times (60min). Tickets are available through the Adelaide Fringe Online Box Office.
