I think it might be nice to know that this show reflects a journey across a few countries. I wrote the show between South Africa and Amsterdam. We cast, rehearsed and previewed in New York and now we are coming to Edinburgh to see you all! Sometimes life is a traveling circus because you moved for love and it didn’t work out. Things aren’t always what you expect them to be – in the best way. Encounter asks, “What if an alien encounter was less about lasers and more about understanding what truly makes us human when faced with another species”? Okay, okay too serious. There will also be puns and lots of ducks!

Encounter is a comedy musical. You will come to our show and be met with hilarious, nerdy science facts about our sun. You will witness an alien-human tap dance. Really, this show has everything. The show is at 11:45 am. Now I don’t know if you know this, but at a festival, you kind of shop around for venues until you find your soulmate. Usually in real life, we’d play this show a bit later because it’s got that let’s-grab-a-drink-after charm. But do you know what’s awesome about a show with aliens at 11:45? You can grab breakfast including or excluding mimosas – you can come see an awesome show that leaves your heart warm, and then you have the rest of the day to see more shows! It’s really a win-win for humanity.
