It’s the 2020s, and everything’s a bit… shall we say, interesting? There’s an old Chinese curse that goes ‘may you live in interesting times’, but I don’t think any of us ever wanted it to be quite this interesting…
Majk Stokes* is an Edinburgh-based comedy poet and singer-songwriter, once described as “basically, Bill Bailey’s good-looking younger brother”. Returning to the Dundee Fringe for a second year, he uses his sharp but gentle humour, to explore the issues that face us in the world today through comedy poems and songs – taking in computers, AI and social media, coffee, politics, the environment and Donald Trump – finds the funny side (there is one, honest!)
Majk is a comedy singer-songwriter, poet, multi-instrumentalist, environmentalist and Quaker, based in Edinburgh. He picked up an unusual spelling of his name when he was working in Bosnia. His subject matter takes in everything from archaeology and deep ecology to science fiction and superheroes, and his style might be described as a blend of Tom Lehrer, Bob Dylan, Bill Bailey, Brian Bilston and Billy Bragg – but make sure you strain off all those B’s or they’ll give you indigestion.
