REVIEW: Demi Adejuyigbe Sells Out, Soho Theatre, EdFringe 2026 ★★★★★

Demi Adejuyigbe is a master of stand up comedy, with comedic talent unlike any I have seen before.

Demi Adejuyigbe Sells Out is a stand-up hour that Demi himself admits is a string of bits with no correlation that he has worked to fit around one theme, selling-out. In order to effectively sell-out, Demi has partnered with three companies, a t-shirt printing company, from whom he reveals more and more increasingly absurd and comical t-shirts, a magic company who have tasked him with performing a trick, and the world’s first AI stand up comedian, a robot, who takes on part of the set for itself.

Throughout his set, Demi switches between instruments, playing rock-comedy songs, as well as telling stories in between. Not every punchline led to a song and not every song led to a punchline and that diversity in the format of the show is what made it so perfect.

Despite the way that this show was broken up into smaller segments, it was beautifully fast paced and hilarious throughout, without ever suffering the ebb and flow of many comedy hours. Demi’s wit was sharp and smart, without ever needing to be edgy.

One of my favourite moments of Demi’s set was when he stepped aside and allowed Robbie the Robot Comedian to take up the stage for some crowd work. Robbie, a robot created out of a remote control car and some cardboard boxes spray painted silver, emerged from behind the back curtain on the stage and went right up to audience members on the front row, before stopping to ask their personal details, before retreating and stating “you are one very interesting chica” no matter what that person had just told him. The sheer absurdity and stupidity of this as a concept is what made it so fantastically funny, yet, it is also a clever commentary on AI and the role it plays in the arts.

Towards the end of the show, Demi brings us a more sentimental song, taking us away from the comedy for just a moment, in a move he admits mid-song is something Bo Burnham would do. For me, comparing Demi Adejuyigbe to Bo Burnham would be an insult, because Demi is so much better.

This show had me laughing so hard that my stomach was hurting only 10 minutes in, it is a masterclass in stand-up comedy and everything I could have wanted and more out of a show.

Recommended Drink: Blood on the Beach, a new cocktail.
