REVIEW: Andrew White: What a Life!, Ebdon Management, EdFringe 2026, ★★★★

In the some of sparkliest pants you’ve ever seen, out struts Andrew White to stage. Smiling, shiny and shimmering Andrew comes out excited to get going; you can see how much he enjoys his show and can’t wait to share it with you.

As he begins, Andrew sets off talking about family and loved ones and what they mean to him. It is a love letter to the little things in life and the beauty they all hold. Speaking of little things: He is overtly proud of his parking fine overturn success rate. If you take one in, there’s a feeling he’ll start the reply for you right there on the stage.

Talking about his family with love and heart, dipping into the moments he remembers so fondly about them, he’s here to talk about how these people are made in the moments you share with them. From his mum telling him every song to add to the funeral list to booking his friend for the worst gig possible, these moments permeate.

Each aside Andrew goes down has the beauty of coming back into the central theme. Never straying too far away but always mining for more jokes to pack into the show. This show is incredibly funny – Andrew is an accomplished comic showcasing his skill and control, and even in the darkest moments of the show you’re never too far away from a punchline. Which with a PowerPoint set up behind him the jokes are often improved with the use of a sight gag, though this isn’t overused and you never feel like you’re in a lecture.

He doesn’t want you to dwell in the death that is the shows focal point because that’s not what the people he loved would have wanted. He celebrated a life with them and he wants to celebrate it with you too. The performance is heart felt and poignant – Andrew cares effortlessly for the people it’s about, all jokes about them are in jest knowing that’s its nothing he wouldn’t have said to their face.

With callbacks galore and a sense fun built in, Andrew plays so well with the crowd, smartly engaging and using those moments to integrate into the show. This proves that it isn’t just a throwaway moment and he cares about his show, only improving the experience for all those involved.

What a Life is a charming, funny and brilliant love letter to those around you, urging you not to waste a second with them. This show will leave you walking away smiling with a tear in your eye.
