Flagstone Theatre invite you to step onto the mist-shrouded banks of Loch Mòrar, where myths linger and monsters may not be what they seem. Beastie is a darkly comic, hauntingly beautiful solo show that follows one man — hermit, myth and reluctant internet star — as his quiet life is upended by a viral documentary. Forced into the glare of public attention, he must reckon with tangled legacies, half-truths, and the monsters — real or imagined — that have shaped him.

Blending raw storytelling, folk music, contemporary lighting, and animation, Beastie asks: why do we create monsters out of the things we can’t explain? Part Highland ghost story, part fever dream, this bold new production is brought to life by powerhouse performer Fraser Sivewright (The Testament of Gideon Mack) and an acclaimed creative team led by playwright and director Izzy Gray.

At the heart of Beastie lies a remarkable collaboration with the Morar community. Supported by Creative Scotland’s Open Fund, the team co-created an evocative soundscape drawn from real voices — wild swimmers, fishing folk, and researchers who know Loch Mòrar and the legend of Morag. Their stories shape a living, breathing theatre piece rooted in place, memory and myth.

Premiering this autumn, Beastie is just at the start of its exciting journey. See it at Dundee Fringe before the legend grows.
