A gentle comedic New Girl vibe for an entertaining hour of music and story.
Confessions of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl follows Joanie Little, a recent anthropology graduate who is currently working full time in a coffee shop, obsessing over Jane Goodall and imagining the coffee shop as her own personal safari.
Rebecca Perry, who plays Joanie Little, is an incredibly talented and compelling performer, singing beautifully and playfully telling us her story.
While this show was entertaining, the way it was played felt almost as if it was a kids show, despite the more adult themes. I also felt that there was not much to the plot. Towards the end of the piece, Joanie gets the opportunity to spend the next year of her life doing her dream job, which I feel like would have been a more interesting plot for this one person show.
This show is a playful and gentle hour, and works well as a mid afternoon treat.
Recommended Drink: Pair this with a your go-to coffee shop order.
You can catch Confessions of a Redheaded Coffeeshop Girl until August 25th at Doonstairs at Gilded Balloon Patter House from 16:00 (60mins). Tickets are available through the EdFringe Online Box Office.
