Fresh from a sellout run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Excel expert and comedian David Benaim is bringing his spreadsheet-themed comedy show back to Dundee. Blending stand-up, storytelling, and live tutorials, the show turns the world of maths and spreadsheets into a unique comedy show. A 45-minute work-in-progress version, titled =EXCEL(IS_FUNNY), was previously performed at Dundee Fringe 2024.
The performance mixes sharp stand-up with jaw-dropping spreadsheet tricks, delivered through interactive crowd work that delights both Excel nerds and casual users. In its final stretch, the show takes a surprising turn with a heartfelt tribute to computing pioneer Alan Turing, before ending with a final few minutes of stand-up.
More than a dude who just loves Excel, David is considered by Microsoft to be amongst the top 100 or so Excel people worldwide by holding the Microsoft MVP award for 5 years. Born in the Bahamas, raised in Gibraltar, and now based in Cambodia, David has performed comedy across four continents. Professionally, he has spent his career helping people unlock the power of spreadsheets through training, webinars, and his popular YouTube channel, which has grown to over 20,000 subscribers.
