A camp and bizzare retelling of the story of King Arthur.
King Arthur’s Body followed the story of Arthur as he pulls the sword from the stone, becomes King of the kingdom and reigns, all with the help of the Wizard Merlin and his lover Archimedes.
King Arthur’s Body felt like the merge between an adult panto and a drug fuelled fever dream. This show was insane. I am going to describe one scene in full to try and explain how crazy this show was.
Arthur and Guinevere have just gotten married, they walk around the front row thanking everyone for coming, meanwhile Lancelot goes around the front of the audience in the opposite direction, with an intense energy, discussing how happy he is for the married couple, when he finishes his round he puts his sword down on the floor. While this is happening Archimedes is stood centre stage juggling three light up bowling pins and Merlin is there, probably doing something else much was happening for me to be able to tell. Then, Arthur and Guineevere lift a sheet and begin to have sex behind it, Lancelot does a cartwheel across the stage, Archimedes pulls out a box with a packer, a dildo and a double ended dildo, plays with them and then juggles them. Merlin is still just there. End Scene.
I truly feel I have witnessed something deeply like no other, whether for better or for worse. King Arthur’s Body is the cheapest drug trip you will have in Edinburgh.
Recommended Drink: Pair this with a magic potion of sex and power.
You can catch King Arthur’s Body until August 23rd at Willow Studio at Greenside @ Riddles Court from 22:05 (60mins). Tickets are available through the EdFringe Online Box Office.
