Making its Edinburgh Fringe debut this August, Pascol brings an intimate, unpredictable and radically human vocal performance built from audience stories. One person shares a memory, feeling or fleeting moment. Six women sing it back.

Using only their voices and bodies, the ensemble transforms each story into spontaneous music and movement. Nothing is pre-written or digitally enhanced. Everything unfolds in real time, making every performance unique.

The idea feels particularly resonant now. We live surrounded by voices, yet genuine listening has become increasingly rare. Our days are mediated by screens, algorithms and endless streams of content. We are permanently connected, but often remain strangely separate from one another.

Pascol turns that tension into a shared experience. The audience is not simply there to watch. Everyone in the room becomes part of something that exists only once. For a short time, strangers listen closely, recognise themselves in other people’s stories and imagine something together.

Created by a female-led ensemble whose members bring different cultural backgrounds, vocal traditions and personal histories, the work has no single leading voice. It develops through trust, sensitivity and instinct.

At a festival where so much competes for our attention, Pascol makes space for attention itself. It suggests that creativity requires neither technology nor instruments, only a story, a room full of people and a willingness to listen.

Pascol is an experimental vocal performance that invites the audience into a collaborative, immersive space. Five vocalists transform personal stories shared in the room into improvised compositions. Each performance begins with an invitation: audience members may share a memory. The ensemble listens, moves and sings together, composing live using only voice and physical expression. No instruments, no script. The result is a spontaneous, one-of-a-kind musical reflection shaped by the emotions. Harmonies and layered textures become a sound mirror for shared memories. Combining improvisation, storytelling and emotional resonance, Pascol creates fleeting, expressive, deeply human collective experiences.
