A beautiful portrayal of the pain of hyper productivity, and how it impacts your reality.
To Do Lists follows writer and performer Amy Lever as she details her life through the medium of to-do lists, working everyday to meet her goals, and never stopping, until life forces her.
To Do Lists is a glorious exploration of life and loss, focusing on control. Amy Lever teaches us no matter how hard you try to keep everything under control, life is unpredictable, and that is inescapable. Lever does an excellent job of bringing us into her story, and encouraging us to become a part of her life, with moments of humour interspersed with her raw, painful reality.
Arguably the greatest element of To Do Lists is the creative captioning throughout, with every spoken word of the piece not simply reiterated through subtitles, but designed to be immersed within the show. The creative captioning is captivating and artistic and an extraordinary element I have rarely seen in theatre, let alone in Fringe theatre. It feels deeply woven into the show and its aesthetic, rather than being treated as an afterthought.
Towards the beginning of the piece, I found myself struggling with the slower pacing, however the performer never failed to bring me back into the raw emotion of the piece
To Do Lists made me laugh, and made me cry, and is an excellent way to spend an afternoon.
Recommended Drink – Kosher Wine, if you have time
