REVIEW: She/They, Bronwyn Farkas, Sophie Jean, EdFringe 2026 ★★★★

Mel Robbins but it turns you on, a smoke break like no other and… can I just say something?? She/They, made up of Bronwyn Farkas (she/her) and Sophie Jean (they/them), delivers exactly what they promise: hilarious, queer, chaotic sketch comedy.

You can immediately tell that the two performers work well together even when the characters they’re portraying are all over the place, and the chemistry and ease between them allows you to lean back, relax and enjoy.

The show opens with a scene where Farkas and Jean are the opening act for a band, however – luckily for us – they really take their time before actually starting the first song. Between outrageous pronunciations of Edinburgh and satirical portrayals of the band members, this scene really sets the tone for the rest of the show.

What follows is a sketch featuring a couple experimenting with roleplay, except the kink is one of them dressing up as controversial lifestyle guru Mel Robbins and reading from her book The Let Them Theory. I only learned about Mel Robbins recently and I’m not sure how much I would have gotten from this sketch without this knowledge, and even so I wanted it to be longer, pushed to more extremes, however the concept itself is fantastic.

One of the absolute standouts was a scene between two elderly women doing (and redoing and redoing) their laundry whilst discussing a whole host of ‘controversial’ subjects such as they/ them pronouns and polyamory (again, peak pronunciation). By the fifth time one of them asked ‘Can I just say something…?’ the entire audience was in stitches.

Other sketches included a type of As Seen on TV segment, a film about the Reply Guy and two people who don’t smoke meeting in the smoking area. Quick costume and set changes, varying accents and characterisations and incredibly creative, chaotic and well-executed concepts make for a fast-paced show that never feels boring or repetitive.

There were a few moments when the dialogue was hard to understand due to the character voices; even if the person portrayed might mumble or slur their words, the performer still needs to project enough to be heard in the entire auditorium. But aside from that, Farkas and Jean deliver brilliant and engaging performances and if you’re into sketch comedy, She/They is an absolute must-see.

Recommended Drink: Fanta Lemon. Don’t ask me why, it just feels right.
